About Me & This Blog!

I initially started this blog as an insight into my quest for the truth behind food, the people behind it, their stories, the food's story. Many people who are just content to eat to survive, not taking the pleasure in the story, the history, the connection to the Earth that food has come from. I am certainly of the latter, I am one of those you would consider interested in food, that my hobbies are cooking, eating, enjoying a farmer's market, and sitting long at the table with great family, friends & a delicious plate of food, with an equally delicious beverage at hand.

As I traveled and talked with people, I gradually discovered that I wanted to be behind the scenes myself. I have always had a connection to production with my family's duck farming business in Sonoma County, but knew there was something else for me. I realized, I had been drinking it all along, in the wine glass in my hand. My first internship in a winery cellar was in 2011 and I have never looked back. It's been a couple of years of purple stained hands, and pomace in my hair, and worth every long harvest day and night.

The journey for good wine, good food, & REAL food, has taken me far and wide, and is always part of my life. I have traveled trying to figure out what eating & drinking means to different people. I want to know how much pride they take in what they're eating-do they know their farmers, do they know their local brewers? What is their culture in the kitchen, at the table, in the glass. It is my hope that more people will become interested in what they're consuming, and that I can help one or two people along the way figure that out, perhaps over a glass of the perfect bubbly!

CHEERS to that!
